Intensive course format, with three-week duration.  Students may choose morning schedule or afternoon schedule to have flexibility or may choose both (an extended day) to accelerate credit acquisition.  12 three-week “terms” are offered during the school year and three additional during the summer.  Students must be age 17-21.  Due to waiting list, may enter by either passing 75% of courses in last semester in regular high school or earning 2 credits at Independent Studies

Location

All courses held on campus at Metro Community college.  Students participate in a cohort approach to their first several quarters at Metro.  All courses are dual credit, students earn college and high school credits at the same time.  Courses are articulated to meet high school graduation requirements.  First two quarters are at Fort Omaha campus, other options after that.  Ages 17-20, must meet minimum reading requirement through examination.

STUDIES PROGRAM

Self-paced study in one or two courses at a time. Minimum daily attendance for two hours expected. Studies done on-site and as homework. Courses may be taken in paper-pencil format or online. Best for students who are self-directed, motivated, and capable.

UNO/OPS PROGRAM

Courses held on campus at UNO.  The program is located in Kayser Hall on the 2nd floor.  OPS staff members offer honors coursework in the core subjects as well as electives.  In addition, students take selected UNO courses and receive dual credit.  The program focuses on graduation from high school and transitioning successful to post-secondary opportunities.  Eligible students have a history of being identified as high ability learners.
